Having more than 5,000 cultural monuments under the open sky, Armenia is the largest open air museum in the world. Nature lovers can explore the mountain regions of the southern Caucasus. Sevan Lake at 1,900 meters is the largest high mountain lake in Europe and its picturesque view will make a deep impression on all the visitors. The tour will begin from Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, where you will have a chance to visit famous museums and monuments. The following days will be spent cycling round the picturesque land of Armenia. For most Armenians Ararat is a symbol of their country.

After reaching the hotel and having rest we will start our wonderful trip around the capital of Armenia, Yerevan. The first day includes visiting Museum of history of Armenia which is the national museum of Armenia founded in 1919.Then we will have a walk in Yerevan and we will just admire the beauty of Yerevan which stretches under the gaze of biblical mountain Ararat. Our tour also includes visiting Erebuni fortress-museum which is a fortified city from the ancient kingdom of Urartu, located in Yerevan. It was one of several fortresses built along the northern Urartian border and was one of the most important political, economical and cultural centers of the vast kingdom. The name Yerevan itself is derived from Erebuni. Overnight at hotel in Yerevan.
We will move by bus to Vanadzor. On the way we will visit Aparan which is one of the oldest towns of Armenia (2nd century) and famous basilica (4th century), perhaps we can meet even the local priest. The path goes to Spitak, which has been destroyed by the earthquake in 1988. We will continue our tour by bikes to Qobayr. Qobayr is a 12th century Armenian monastery located in the village Kober within Lori province. Our tour will last by bus to the monasteries of Sanahin, Haghpat, the spiritual centers in the Middle Ages (10th century). Many monuments of Armenia are embedded in a great, desolate landscape. Then we will partly pass the way by bus, partly by bicycle till Noyemberyan. (bike ride 70 km, transfer 140km). Overnight at hotel in Novemberian.
Our first bike ride passes through wooded places. Before the trip to Makaravanq we will have time for picnic in open air. Trip to Makaravanq is a medieval monastic complex situated on the slopes of Paitatap mountain. Optional hike from the road deep into Enokavan Lastiver. We will reach Ijevan, an important place on the ancient trade route from east to west, at a hotel near the market (bike ride 60 km). Overnight in Ijevan.
After breakfast we start out trip through densely wooded hill to the monastery complex Goshavank (12th century).The stage ends in Dilijan, a small spa in the midst of wooded nature reserve. Here we will find beautiful examples of traditional wooden houses of Armenian architecture.Optional visit to the Children’s Art School (55km). Overnight at guesthouse, Dilijan.
We will move by a bus to Sevan. At the end of the tunnel, the color will be changed. In contrast to the lush green mountains and luxurious view, we see an impressive steppe-like landscape. We reach Lake Sevan situated on the 1,900 m height. Its cool blue water in summer invites you to a swim. Sevan Monastry(9th century) is situated on Sevan Peninsula, which was originally an island in the 20th Century. The bike ride of the day starts from there along the shore. Here you will see some birds that don’t migrate in autumn. Overnight in the fishing village Tsapatagh, lakeside hotel (transfer 25km / bicycle 55 km).
Today we enjoy the comforts of our hotel. Relax in the swimming pool of the hotel, sauna, swimming in the lake in summer. We will have a chance to taste delicious fishes. On the large terrace we have a fantastic panoramic view. Overnight at a hotel in Tsapatagh.
We go around Lake Sevan by bike:to the left there is a great mountain range, to the right there is the silvery lake. The road will temporarily turn into a runway. In summer we go swimming and will have picnics. Overnight at hotel in Martuni (67km).
We continue our cycling through Selim and reach a caravanserai (14th century). At an altitude of 2,410 m, we enjoy the most fascinating view of Ararat. Here the Silk Road passed in 14th century. Spectacular descent to Yeghegnadzor. Overnight in the hotel (59km).
The route to Sisian we will partially pass by bike, partly by coach. In the afternoon there is a possibility to have dinner in a beautiful riverside local restaurant. Sisian is a pretty small town, and you may easily have a walk from one side of it to another. Overnight at hotel, (transfer 30km / bicycle 55 km).
We will visit the Bronze Age dating Armenian Stonehenge. Graves and stones together form a mythical place of worship having a special appearance. From here we cycle to the fortress monastery (10th century). The complex offers a spectacular view over the gorge and river Vorotan. Picnic near the warm springs of Vorotan. Return to Sisian. Overnight at hotel (round trip by bike: 40km).
In the morning we start our trip to Vorotan and have a chance to see Satan bridge. Then we move to Tatev monastery. Tatev is one of the most important monasteries of Armenia. From the top you will a have wonderful views. Overnight in Tatev guest house (55km).
In Tatev there is a cable railway over the spectacular gorge of Vorotan near Halidzor. The cable railway is 5750 meters, the longest one in the world (built 2010). Then we move to Goris. Due to the fertile soil, there are plenty of fruit cultivations. Goris is famous for its fruit species. After lunch, we visit Old Goris, where stone houses still remain. Back to Yerevan, arrival in the evening. Overnight at hotel in the city center( transfer 250 km).
Free day in Yerevan. Visiting Armenian National Museum of History. We walk up the CASCADE and after one last look at “our” magic mountain; Free time to prepare for the departure.
